Shipping Policy
Adult Signature Requirement
State law, as well as UPS policy, requires an adult signature (21+ years of age) at the time of delivery for every package containing wine. It is the shipper’s responsibility to ensure an adult is available to sign for the shipment at delivery.
Shipping and Delivery Terms
- All Wine Club shipments are sent via UPS and are subject to UPS’s standard delivery policies and procedures. Once a package leaves Chateau Grand Traverse’s facility, it is fully managed by the UPS delivery system. Chateau Grand Traverse does not have the ability to dictate delivery times, dates, or locations beyond the initial shipping address provided by the member.
- UPS will attempt delivery three (3) times and leave a notification at the delivery address after each attempt. If the package is not successfully delivered after the third attempt, it will be returned to Chateau Grand Traverse. Customers may contact UPS directly to redirect the package or request a hold at a UPS facility; however, Chateau Grand Traverse cannot make these adjustments on behalf of the customer.
- In the event of a returned package, the customer will be responsible for any return fees and additional shipping costs associated with redelivery. These fees will be charged to the credit card on file.
Shipments will not be delivered under the following circumstances (UPS Polcity)
- The recipient is not 21 years of age or older or does not have an acceptable form of ID such as a driver’s license, passport or picture ID.
- The recipient shows signs of intoxication.
- If the recipient cannot provide identification proving their age or the recipient’s home is vacant, the delivery will be re-attempted two subsequent times and then it will be returned to Chateau Grand Traverse.
Seasonal & Weather Concerns
To ensure extreme weather conditions or temperature variances we may choose to delay your shipment to mantain quality of the winer product. Customers will receiver email communicaton if fufillment is delayed to these rare, yet plausable instances.
eCommerce and Wine Club Shipping Fees
- Becuase of the way UPS calculates and posts shipping rates, incedential yet required fees are not included in national zoning programs such as Adult Signature Required, Fuel Surcharges, etc. As a small business shipping heavy product (each bottle averages around 3.8lbs), CGT includes a suplamental shipping & handling fee of $12.00 per shipment to offset these costs.
- A nominal yet secondary fee of $5.00 per shipment (twice a year) covers unique inventory and fulfillment costs for the customizable wine club but is not applicable to any standard wine club or eCommerce orders.
